We visited this beautiful place today and enjoyed a lot with kids at Cherry π and Strawberries π pick up.
Loved this place. Entrance is 5$ per adult with minimum purchase of 10$ required. Entrance fee will be refunded/added to the purchase we make there.
Worth visiting and very nicely organised and maintained.
I strongly recommend this place.
Small, but mighty! Verellen doesn't have all the bells and whistles that Yates, Blake's and other bigger Cider Mills do, but what they do have are treats and produce that are absolutely wonderful.
No matter the time of year it is, the one thing they consistently have that is consistently awesome are their donuts. They are, bar none, the best of any cider mill in the area. All of their donuts are very aromatic, fresh, and flavorful, even the plain donuts! I love their plain donuts. They have a unique, slightly crunchy exterior, and a soft interior that you can't find anywhere else in the area.
They have a wide variety of flavors and types available, but my favorites include the plain donuts, blueberry, peach, and cherry. The fruit varieties vary depending on the season (peach in mid summer, cherry in fall, blueberry is generally available most of the time, provided you're early enough to get 'em while they have 'em)
The only precaution I would recommend is that if you buy the donuts, eat them fast, like they need to be gone within 1-2 days. The plain donuts lose their unique texture fast, and the frostings get absorbed into the donuts the longer they sit in the house. This is absolute NOT a knock against Verellen, but a testament that the donuts are made fresh daily and have no preservatives. Just make sure they're gone. Which, should not be a problem since they're so delicious.
Now, leaving the donuts aside, their produce is pretty good. The apples are very hardy, with a long shelf life, and taste delicious as you'd expect from a cider mill. I've also bout their honey before, and some of their pies. Their cider slushies are absolutely top notch.
I guess my bottom line is, if you're wanting a taste of the cider mill without all of the other gimmicks, you have absolutely come to the right place.
The best pies in existence anywhere! We drive 2 hours a couple times a year just to get them. Good service, friendly people. Downside....they have jacked their prices up A LOT the past few years.
We visit only cherry and strawberries farm.
Cherries was very nice but strawberries π is not too much so need to find out from farm. β¦
Best pies in Michigan. Notable are Apple Carmel nut and the incomparable Fruit of the Forrest. Perfectly crafted you taste every berry. Nothing is muted. Pie fans, get to Verellen. Grab a sack of Michigan Macs while your there.
Went to Westview today to get cider and donuts. I got the donuts but when I tried to get the cider they had a half a gallon for $8 or a gallon for $11.50. I needed a gallon but in two different half gallon containers they would not give me the gallon price. So I stopped at Verellen Orchard instead. Only $6 a half gallon there. Verellen will be my new place!! They are conveniently located off of Van Dyke just north of 29 mile.
Verellen's makes the best peach pies. We drive from west Bloomfield for the pie and a bag full of peaches. The concord grapes are amazing too. This little gem of a place is worth the drive.. don't miss out!
